Adcote Shanghai combines the rich experience of the UK’s Adcote School in offering A-Level courses with the IBDP framework, integrating the educational philosophy of "East meets West, and holistic learning." This approach is tailored to the learning characteristics of Chinese students.
The school offers IGCSE, A-Level and IB courses. With a focus on the core values of heritage, innovation, independence and leadership, the curriculum includes four main strands: Chinese core curriculum, thematic inquiry courses, liberal arts courses, and global exploration programs. A-Level qualifications are accepted by over 11,000 universities across 160+ countries and regions.

Founded in 1968,the IB is the abbreviation of the International Baccalaureate (International Baccalaureate Curriculum), which was originally developed for the children of diplomats and the world's outstanding middle school students, and is recognized as a leader in international education. More than 2,100 universities around the world recognize the IB International Baccalaureate, among which, the world's top universities such as Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard, and Yale all welcome IB graduates to apply.

Why study the IB?
It is a programme which will inspire and excite, whilst preparing you better to succeed at university and the future world of work or entrepreneurship. As part of our IB programme you have many choices to make as you decide which subjects you will study as part of your broad and balanced curriculum, which is created with outstanding university places in mind. We have deliberately created our curriculum so that students may opt for a science focus (by studying two sciences) or humanities focus (by studying two of Economics, History or Psychology) as part of their learning.
Our programme benefits from being delivered by both Chinese and Western teachers, fully in English, preparing students with the slills to succeed at university.
During Pre-DP, the IB curriculum framework (educational philosophy, inquiry method) is used to support students to be successful during their IGCSE curriculum, in which they will study 10 different subjects.
During DP, students will students six subjects from the different IB ‘Groups’ alongside the core curriculum of Theory of Knowledge (TOK); Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS) and the Extended Essay (EE). All students are expected to complete a full diploma before attining places at high QS ranking universities.
